The Friday the 13th rumor mill is in full swing this morning. It appears as though there is a new 12-film blu-ray set on the horizon. This will no doubt come as welcome news to fans who missed out on the 2013 set, which now sells for hundreds of dollars.
There has been no official announcement of the release but this year marks the 40th anniversary of the first film and two recent Facebook posts suggest that a new set is on the way. This rumored set will have new special features and it will feature the unrated cut of Jason Goes To Hell, marking the first official blu-ray release of the unrated version.
The Facebook posts in question come from actor Vincent Guastaferro, who played Deputy Rick Cologne in Jason Lives, and Jason Goes To Hell director Adam Marcus. Guastaferro’s post read “Just finished doing the running commentary for the new 12 film box set being released later this summer. Did it with Thom Matthews and we piped CJ Graham in remotely.” While Marcus made mention of a new set and added “This will be the first true unrated Blu-ray!!! With new features and awesomeness! It’s gonna rock!!!”
Again, it’s important to note that this is all rumor at this point but don’t be surprised if we get an official announcement sometime in the near future.
