Most movie and television news has been rough these last few months. With all the cancellations, delays, and indefinitely postponed release dates, its easy to despair. But FX has swooped in to save the day with an announcement that will bring a smile to any horror-comedy lover’s face.
What We Do In The Shadows, the hilarious mockumentary series based on the Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement film of the same name, has been renewed for a third season. The series follows a group of vampires played by Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, and Mark Proksch, and the familiar Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) as they navigate the vampiric life in modern-day Staten Island.
Viewership for the series’ second season has shot up according to Deadline, reporting that it’s up 25% from season one with an average of 3.2 million total viewers across both linear and digital platforms.
It’s so delightful to hear that FX is putting its weight behind a show that’s really earned its fanbase. Following the same structure as the film, the series has found a way to really expand upon the universe and create some really memorable new characters. The fact that the show is getting the chance to continue that expansion is thrilling to say the least.
Season two of What We Do In The Shadows is currently running and will wrap up on June 10th.
