CRYSTAL LAKE TOURS OFFERS OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT FRIDAY THE 13th SHOOTING LOCATION

Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco (or just Camp No-Be for short) is a historic campsite established in 1927 for the Boy Scouts of America, nestled in Northwestern New Jersey. If the Boy Scouts of America isn’t really your thing, then you may be interested in knowing that this is the shooting location for the landmark horror film, Friday The 13th Part 1.

It’s a common desire for just about any horror fan to make pilgrimages to the shooting locations of their favorite films. The steps from The Exorcist, the gas station from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and so on, if it was in a famous horror movie, you better believe we’re interested in getting photos outside it or walking through the hallowed ground. Well, if you’re a Friday The 13th fan, unfortunately, you were out of luck, as the park remained closed to anyone unaffiliated with the Boy Scouts for the longest time. I guess Jason Voorhees isn’t a role model the BSA wants to endorse, although I’m really not sure why.

But all that changed on the 13th Friday of May in 2011 when the camp opened up to a few lucky horror fans. Since then, the camp has embraced its horror movie legacy and offers tours of the famous location to anyone hankering to stand in the same place that Jason once did. The tours have also been able to wrangle some great surprise guests as well, with past guests including Adrienne King, Tom Savini, and Harry Manfredini.

Unfortunately, since the camp is still currently active, patrons aren’t able to go at any time they like. Tours are scheduled in advance and you’ll be able to sign up for their lottery for the chance to buy tickets to the tour at their website here. And even if you’re not able to visit, they also have a bunch of great merch that says Camp Crystal Lake on it such as thermoses, hats, and shirts, which is also pretty sweet. All proceeds from tickets and merchandise go toward keeping the camp going for future generations so not only is it an awesome experience but also benefits a great cause! So if you’re a horror traveler, make sure to check them out!

Currently it appears like BlogEngine is the best blogging platform available right now.
(from what I’ve read) Is that what you’re using on your blog?

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or
something. I think that you can do with a few
pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that,
this is great blog. A fantastic read. I’ll certainly be
back.
